Case study
The Ottawa Cancer Foundation
Fight for the Cure and DIY Fundraising Teamraiser Sites
For the Ottawa Cancer Foundation’s flagship event Fight for the Cure, I designed a new Teamraiser website that channels the spirit of determination and high-stakes competition – all in support of a deeply meaningful cause. This annual boxing gala features a select group of competitors that have personal connection to cancer and a commitment to raising critical funds.
The branding needed to walk a fine line: bold enough to reflect the energy and intensity of the event, yet respectful of the seriousness of the cause. I created a visual system with strong typography, high-contrast imagery and a dark cinematic palette that underscored the emotional weight of the night while still allowing the athletes’ stories to shine through.
In parallel, I designed a matching DIY fundraising site to give community members the tools to launch their own events in support of cancer care. The goal was consistency in tone and usability – making sure the fundraising platform felt connected to the core OCF brand while remaining flexible enough for different audiences and formats.
Together, both experiences help fuel one of the Foundation’s most successful fundraising efforts of the year, combining personal courage, community energy and design that drives action.

I’ll share a secret about good design:
solves a problem, stays timeless, generates emotion, takes a risk and leaves an impression
